Bresse chickens are an ancient breed. They are feisty, alert, and self-sufficient as regards most of their food supply.
Early to rise and late to bed, they are excellent laying hens, especially in winter when eggs are rare. They eat little and are easy to raise. Their meat is justly renowned for its superior quality.
