POTEL ET CHABOT STANDS AGAINST FOOD WASTAGE
At the Pavillon Gabriel, Paris, yesterday, Potel et Chabot became the first caterer to sign a French national compact against food wastage, in the presence of Guillaume Garot MP.
After having the pleasure of welcoming the Mr Garot to our premises, we visited the kitchens for a simulation exercise that demonstrated our quick and easy solutions for contacting Paris-based associations that work with disadvantaged populations.
After speeches delivered by Mr Garot and Franck Jeantet, our CEO, Potel et Chabot and Mr Garot signed the Compact, and then enjoyed some of the latest creations from Potel et Chabot’s Autumn-Winter collection.
Potel et Chabot has long been committed to sustainable development. It now intends to play a more active role in recycling surplus food by joining the Mayor of Paris in this nationwide, government-led project.
For the last few years, Potel et Chabot and its partner, Mie de Pain, have run an uneaten bread recovery operation at the French Open tennis championship.
In 2013, and in response to an appeal from the Paris City Hall, Potel et Chabot decided to widen the impact of this operation by joining the national compact against food wastage, alongside Eqosphere and various Paris-based associations that work with disadvantaged populations, like Mie de Pain, Association Aurore, Relais Frémicourt, etc. This partnership enabled more than 2,200 people to benefit from this initiative during the French Open at Roland Garros.
By signing this compact, we undertake to:
– Improve our company’s social footprint by helping disadvantaged populations;
– Reduce the volume of waste and discarded produce;
– Raise awareness among all our employees, as well as our customers;
– Encourage other members of our profession to make a similar commitment.
With the latter objective in mind, Potel et Chabot is steering the caterers working group created by the Paris City Hall to encourage catering professionals to recycle surplus food and support associations working in Paris.
