Cep mushrooms can be found as of early autumn, in deciduous and conifer forests alike.
The boletus edulis, commonly known as the penny bun, porcino or cep is one of many species of bolete mushroom: summer cep and pine tree cep, boletus aereus or tête de nègre, bay bolete, yellow bolete, leccinum, Périgord cep, dotted stem bolete, birch bolete, boletus leucophaeus, suillus granulatus, peppery bolete, the bitter tylopilus felleus, Satan’s mushroom, lurid bolete… and most famous of all the cèpe de Bordeaux.
